Image tool

Pixel Art Converter

Create a pixelated image with adjustable block size. Preview the effect and download at the original dimensions, entirely in your browser.

Start with your image

One still PNG, JPG, or WebP, up to 30 MB and 24 megapixels. Maximum 8,192 pixels per side. Animated images are rejected.

Image settings

PNG keeps transparency and ignores quality. JPG uses a white background. WebP quality 100 is still lossy.

Your file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to ToolPixels.

Build a coarser pixel grid

The tool shrinks your image to a small grid and enlarges it without smoothing. Larger block sizes produce fewer, larger pixels. Edge blocks can vary slightly to fit the original image dimensions.

A block size of 1 preserves the original pixels. This is a pixelation effect, not hand-drawn pixel art or a palette-limiting tool. Use PNG to keep crisp block boundaries without JPEG artifacts.

Keep the original

Edits are applied to the original image each time. Export re-encodes the decoded pixels and does not preserve the original metadata. Colors may differ with browser decoding. Large images can exceed device memory even within the stated limits. If processing fails, try a smaller image.
