Video to GIF

Turn a short video selection into a looping GIF. Choose the time range, width and frame rate, then download it.

Choose your clip

MP4 (H.264) or WebM (VP8/VP9), up to 50 MiB, 5 minutes and 1920 × 1080 pixels. Export 0.1 to 10 seconds, up to 480 pixels wide.

Enter decimal seconds, or pause the player and use its current playhead time. The end time is excluded from the export.

Your file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to ToolPixels.

Smaller GIFs, clearer results

GIFs have no sound. A shorter selection, smaller width and lower frame rate keep the download smaller. Colors are reduced to a GIF palette.

Compatibility and limits

The source must play in your browser. The single-thread FFmpeg WebAssembly engine is downloaded only when you start an export (about 31 MiB, then browser-cached). It runs in a worker without cross-origin isolation headers. Exports can take longer than the selected clip, especially on phones. Cancel releases the video engine; very slow exports time out after 150 seconds.

Use short files in a current browser. Keep the tab open until the download is ready. A file extension does not guarantee a supported codec. Damaged, encrypted or unusually encoded files may fail.

Video processing uses FFmpeg WebAssembly. See the engine version, license and source information.
