Color Contrast Checker

Check the contrast ratio between two opaque HEX colors and compare WCAG AA and AAA text thresholds.

Check contrast

Use opaque colors. Transparent text or backgrounds must first be composited against their actual background.

Your inputs and results are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to ToolPixels. This tool does not save them.

Text contrast thresholds

WCAG normal text thresholds are 4.5:1 for AA and 7:1 for AAA. Large text thresholds are 3:1 for AA and 4.5:1 for AAA. Large text means at least 18pt (24 CSS px), or 14pt (about 18.67 CSS px) bold.

Pass/fail uses the unrounded contrast ratio. This checks a single sRGB color pair, not an entire page or overall accessibility. The preview may intentionally show low-contrast text.
