Markup Calculator

Find markup, selling price, cost, and profit from two known values.

Calculate markup

Enter cost and the markup percentage applied to that cost.

Informational calculation: Markup is based on cost, while margin is based on selling price. Taxes, fees, discounts, and other expenses are not included unless you include them in the values entered.

Markup and margin are not the same

Markup compares profit with cost. Profit margin compares profit with selling price. For an item that costs 60 and sells for 90, the profit is 30, the markup is 50%, and the margin is about 33.33%.

A negative markup represents a selling price below cost. The calculator accepts it as long as the resulting selling price remains greater than zero.
