How to Convert SVG to PNG at the Right Size

SVG is vector artwork that can scale without a fixed pixel grid. PNG is raster output, so you must choose enough width and height for the final use.

Quick answer

Export at the largest pixel size you actually need. A PNG cannot regain vector sharpness when enlarged later.

Choose output dimensions

Find the maximum display size first. For a 600 CSS-pixel image on a 2x display, a 1200-pixel-wide PNG can render more sharply.

Keep aspect ratio enabled unless the design should stretch. Defaults come from SVG width and height, then viewBox; a file without either may use 300 by 150.

How to convert SVG to PNG

  1. Upload the SVG.
  2. Set required output width and height.
  3. Convert, inspect lines and text, then download.

Transparent areas remain transparent. Output dimensions are pixel counts and do not depend on your screen's pixel ratio.

Fonts and linked assets

An SVG can reference fonts, images, styles, scripts, or other resources. ToolPixels expects self-contained artwork and rejects unsafe or external dependencies.

Convert important text to outlines when exact lettering is essential and you have the right to do so.

Avoid blurry or clipped output

Small PNG dimensions make curves and text soft when enlarged. Very large dimensions use more memory and storage, so choose a purposeful size.

Check viewBox and whitespace if artwork appears tiny or clipped. The converter renders the document bounds it receives.
