How to rotate PDF pages

Correct sideways scans and upside-down pages while leaving the rest of the PDF in its current orientation.

Open the rotate pages tool

Choose the clockwise angle

Use 90 degrees for a quarter turn clockwise, 180 for an upside-down page and 270 for a quarter turn counterclockwise. The chosen rotation is added to each selected page's current rotation.

Rotate by what the page needs now. A page already carrying rotation may not behave like an unrotated scan, so always inspect the result.

Rotate selected pages

  1. Choose a PDF in the Rotate PDF Pages tool.
  2. Enter physical pages, such as 2, 4-6.
  3. Choose 90, 180 or 270 degrees clockwise.
  4. Select Rotate selected pages.
  5. Download and check every selected page, plus a nearby unselected page.

Other pages stay in their original order and receive no added rotation.

Rotation versus page content

Rotating a PDF page changes its viewing orientation. It does not perform optical character recognition, crop the page or rearrange content inside it. If a scan is skewed by only a few degrees rather than exactly sideways, a deskewing tool is needed instead.

Common questions

Can different pages use different angles?

One run applies one angle to all selected pages. Run the exported file through the tool again for another group that needs a different angle.

Will page order change?

No. Use Reorder PDF Pages when the sequence also needs correction.
