Pressure conversion
How to convert pressure
Pressure units compare force over area using different reference scales. Pascals provide a useful common base for moving between metric and customary units.

1 Pa = 1 newton per square meter
One kilopascal is 1,000 Pa, and 1 bar is exactly 100,000 Pa. Therefore, 250 kPa equals 2.5 bar.
PSI and atmospheric pressure
One pound per square inch is about 6,894.757 Pa. To convert 35 psi to kPa, multiply by 6.894757, giving about 241.32 kPa.
One standard atmosphere is exactly 101,325 Pa, or 1.01325 bar. It is a defined reference, not a promise of local weather pressure.
Torr and millimeters of mercury
One torr is defined as 1/760 of a standard atmosphere. A millimeter of mercury is extremely close but comes from a physical mercury-column definition. Treating them as identical is often adequate for everyday work, but not for all precision work.
Gauge and absolute pressure
A unit conversion does not change the pressure reference. Gauge pressure is measured relative to ambient pressure; absolute pressure is measured relative to vacuum. Identify the reference before comparing two values.
