How to reverse text

Reverse text can mean three different operations: reverse every character, reverse the order of words, or reverse the order of lines.

How to reverse text

  1. Paste text into the ToolPixels Reverse Text tool.
  2. Select characters, words, or lines.
  3. Run the reversal.
  4. Check punctuation, spacing, and multi-character symbols.
  5. Copy or download the output.

Applying the same reversal mode twice normally restores the original order, which provides a useful quick check.

Punctuation follows its item

Character reversal moves punctuation as individual characters. Word reversal usually moves punctuation attached to the word token, so Hello, world! may become world! Hello,. Neither operation rewrites grammar or directionality.

For a line list, reversing line order is safest because the contents of each record stay unchanged.

Unicode and bidirectional text

Some visible symbols are built from multiple Unicode code points, such as a base letter plus a combining accent or an emoji sequence joined together. A simple character reversal can split those sequences. Right-to-left scripts also have display rules that differ from storage order.

Use the result for inspection or playful transformations, not as a dependable way to mirror every human writing system. Visual mirroring also requires glyph or layout changes, not merely reversing stored text.

Common questions

Is reversed text encrypted?

No. Reversal is immediately reversible and provides no security.

Can I reverse a numbered list?

Reverse the lines to change item order while preserving each line. Renumber afterward if the numbers are part of the text.
