How to convert Markdown to HTML

Markdown conversion parses document syntax into HTML elements, then sanitization can remove unsafe or unsupported content before the fragment is used.

What Markdown becomes in HTML

Headings become h1 through h6 elements, paragraphs become p, lists become ul or ol, and fenced code becomes pre with code.

The result is structure, not a complete styled website. Typography, spacing, syntax highlighting, and layout still belong to the destination's CSS.

How to convert Markdown to HTML

  1. Paste the Markdown source.
  2. Select Convert to HTML.
  3. Review headings, lists, tables, links, blockquotes, and code.
  4. Copy the sanitized HTML fragment.
  5. Insert it into a trusted document template and test the final page.

The ToolPixels converter handles common Markdown, tables, and strikethrough. It removes scripts, styles, images, embedded media, forms, and unsafe URLs.

Sanitization and links

Safe HTTP, HTTPS, mail, and explicit relative links remain in exported HTML. Unsafe protocols and active content are removed. Preview links are inactive so converting content does not accidentally navigate away.

Sanitization is still context-specific. Insert the result as a content fragment, not into JavaScript, CSS, an attribute, or another parsing context.

Checks before publishing

  • Keep one clear page-level h1 in the final document.
  • Add CSS rather than expecting conversion to reproduce a theme.
  • Verify relative links from the destination URL.
  • Add accessible image markup separately if images are required.
  • Check tables on narrow screens and code blocks for overflow.

Use the browser tool

Convert Markdown to a sanitized HTML fragment locally, then copy or download the result.
